Allied Forces
Confession Weekend Post No.4
“When My Name Was Keoko.”
“Diary of Anne Frank.”
“The Book Thief.”
“When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit.”
“The Last Train to Hiroshima.”
These books are all about World War II. I have a secret interest. I am fascinated with WWII. I don’t know why but I’m always wondering…
How was it like to live in that period?
What was life like? Was there torture? Who were spared? What did the Germans/Japanese do with them? How did it feel like, emotionally and physically?
Especially, how was Hong Kong like? Did the people give up on hope? Or did they wait like damsels in distress for the Allied Forces to come rescue them? How did they react when the Brits abandoned them?
What about the Germans/Japanese point of view? Why did they want to conquer the world? If they did, would the Germans and Japanese rule together or will there be a fight for dominance between them?
But most importantly, who were the spies? Who thought of all the battle plans? Who thought of the strategies that led to downfall or power of nations? Did anyone try to stop Hitler personally? What about the Japanese? Was Hitler pleased with the war he caused? Was he satisfied of his armies’ progress?
I want to know the answers to these questions and maybe the answers will lead to more questions. I want to go to where the torture took place. I want to feel how the POW was like when they were in gas chambers. I’ve written about gas chambers before in the book I’m writing but I don’t think it’s enough. I’ve seen a TV documentary about a concentration camp in the wilderness of Belgium? I think. It’s really cold there. In the winter, it’s all snow, snow, snow and more snow. Inside the camp, there’s still abandoned personal belongings strewed on the floor. There are still shoes, watches, and notebooks… But the freakiest part is that there are mounds and mounds of hair still sitting there.
Yes, I am NOT joking. I remember that there was a HUGE mound of hair. They hair still had color and I remember that there were braids, shaven RIGHT OFF the poor girl’s head that the elastic band it still there!
This place still stayed like that until now, just so saddening.
