Hey! :) It's Friday. Finally!
I'm pretty excited for this weekend since I mastered the 'Pony' level in horse riding so I'll have my very first lesson with the horses on Sunday! :) But it's in the morning. 1) I'll have to get up quite early since I need to prepare my stuff like cleaning my helmet and whips 2) If it were winter, you DON'T want to ride in the cold because the horses will be jumpy and well...can take off any second. I've heard horror stories from James (the instructor) about the class at 7am. I swear, how do the students at seven survive?
The only good point about having the class earlier is that it's cooler in the summer. I actually had another option of having the class on Tuesday evening at either 6-7pm or 4.50-5.40pm. My dad wanted the 4.50pm class but I seriously don't want to spent the last period at school wearing my riding gear since I would be going to the lesson straight after school. The jodhpurs pretty ridiculous, okay? The pants have inner knee pads and stuff like that. No one wants to be seen out of the arena in them.
Anyways, my cousin is coming back from America this weekend for my granddad's funeral. I've only seen her a handful of times in my life. She spent her secondary years in Singapore, her high school+university in England and her first job in Thailand. Now she's doing her master level in the States. Now I kind of regret not contacting her frequently enough because I could've asked her to buy me some stuff in the States. (I'm pretty sure my dad thinks the same now since I've introduced the online store of Giorgio Armani to him and they only ship in the States. Yes, my dad is a fan of Giorgio Armani and I like Armani Exchange. Like father, like daughter? :P)
I think I'll try to get closer to my eldest cousin this time. I think we'll get on pretty well since I've always wanted to study overseas like her and I've been educated in the Singaporean way as well. She also speaks English quite fluently, unlike the rest of my family so that's a major bonus. Ooh! Maybe I can even ask if she like Harry Potter! I could ask her if there's any merchandise stores close to where she stays. (She stays in Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is there!)
And you probably think I'm heartless- I'm scheming ways of using my cousin as an asset to get stuff I want. I mean, who do you know even does this? Oh well, it's not my fault she's in such a beneficial position at the moment.
The definition of asset is a person who a spy uses to extract information and to get sensitive objects. They are often lied to, manipulated or played with and later, abandoned without a single good-bye/thank you after the operative has used them.
It is important that the operative should NOT contact the asset after the mission is over as some... awkward questions will arise. The operative should not, under any circumstance, form a romantic relationship with the asset unless required to achieve the mission objective. Or else the operative's judgment/motives will get clouded and the mission will probably get binned. Work will be undone and secrets will be revealed. The truth is something that you DON't want to know. We're better off living in oblivion, sometimes.
Note: The meaning 'judgment/motives will get clouded and the mission will probably get binned' means the operative will do something stupid and idiotic like putting themselves in danger or trusting the asset which they have formed a romantic relationship with and telling them about the mission objective/the reason why they can hack into the CIA database. The asset will know too much information and might get kidnapped and will most likely get tortured for information. (If they are lucky, only Sodium Pentothal/Sodium Fluoride/LSDs will be used. But still, it's BAD that ANYONE knows ANYTHING.)
As the operative cares about the asset and can't bear to see the asset hurt, he/she will go to where she is captured/track down the kidnappers since they know too much about the mission objective/operative. This is the most classic way of how an operative will fall into the hands of the enemy. The operative, being ridiculously valuable to the bad guys, will most likely be tortured for information as well and may, in the end be killed or worse.
This is why an operative should, in reality, be heartless to the asset. Nothing good will come out in the end if they let their emotions overwhelm them/let their heart rule over their head.
I just gave you a whole Covert/Special Operations report on Assets and Their Uses and Risks. Joe Solomon should be proud of me...
