Ideal vacation

I was just surfing the net, killing time today and I ran across a question 'What is your ideal vacation?' I'm telling you, this is a hard one because I would really, really like to travel around the world...

Drop into New York for a cheesecake. Visit California/Los Angeles for Disneyland and some celeb hunting. And go to this crazy amusement park called ‘Six Flags’, it seems wicked! Stop by New Orleans to celebrate Mardi-Gras and visit one of my oldest friends who is living there. Travel to Canada for maple syrup cookies (I love them, seriously) and watch the aurora lights. And I’d like to see the famous waterfalls and the Grand Canyon. I’ll stop by Hawaii for some sunshine and maybe learn how to surf for a bit. Go to Mexico so buy a sombrero and a taco. I’d wander around Brazil for a while. Brazil seems rather interesting and charming from what I see on television.

I’d love to go to Australia one day. You know, to see the kangaroos and koalas and emus. Maybe even camp in the Bush! And dive underwater to see the Great Barrier Reef. I’d DEFINITELY go to Gold Coast, the amusement parks there look amazing. Then I’ll head over to New Zealand. Eat lamp chops (ahh, I love lamb chops…), visit the glaciers, watch collie dogs herd sheep and all that farmyard stuff. And I’ll go bungee jumping in NZ, you really do jump off a cliff! (Hehe, my choice of drug: Adrenaline)

Then I’ll get lost in Singapore, Philippines, India and Indonesia. It’s seems so exotic and brills. I’d like to take my parents to Maldives. I think they’d like it, with all the sunshine and beaches. They’ve haven’t went to somewhere like that for a long time, it’s long overdue, I guess.

And I’d stop in Japan for a while. Eat the HUGE seafood that you can NEVER find in Hong Kong and the ramen there is heavenly. Oh, my gosh…I’m just drooling thinking about it! And I NEED the miso soup there as well. It’s so damned delicious.

I’d like to go skiing, maybe even learn to snowboard a bit (I’ll probably be a disaster though *cringes* I’ve always wanted to try a Black Diamond level thingy. You know, the really crazy steep one but…I think I’ll keep that dream alive). I enjoy going on the ski lifts ‘cause it’s seriously fun! I sit on it, I jump off and I fall with my skis in a tangle. Then I burst out laughing until the whole mountain turns to stare… And of course, I’d go shopping there for the most random but cute stuff ever.

If I could, I’d take my parents to see the cherry blossom trees. We used to have a cherry blossom at home during CNY but it’s quite expensive now so we don’t buy it anymore. I’ve missed the cherry blossoms. It smells great and the petals feel so soft when I touch them.

(I probably won’t go to Korea though. There’s nothing much in South Korea that attracts me since I have…bad memories there and I don’t want to get shot in North Korea either, thank you very much.)

In China, I’ll drop into Shanghai because Shanghai’s a special place for me. It’s a place full of firsts and memories. And it’s beautiful there (except that it’s bleeding hot in the summer and the citizens are allowed to smoke indoors. I swear, I can’t eat if I smell the smoke. And what if my long-lost friend asthma visits me?). I have to eat the Xiao LongBao and the dumplings there. It’s so good… I’ve always enjoyed Shanghai-nese food more than any kind of Chinese food for some reason. And I go to Harbin in the winter so enjoy the snow and cold. The countryside there is spectacular, I tell you.

After that, I’d go to the Silk Road and ride a camel. I’ve heard about the stories there and I’ve always wanted to go but the tours are only available in September and I’m a school already. Sigh… I’d like to visit Tibet and 西藏 some time, the places seems absolutely charming there. I’d also go to Qing Dao to drink Qing Dao beer; people say it tastes really different there. Wonder if it’s true…

I'd go to Mongolia as well. To ride horses on the grassy plains. It has no boundaries, no fences, no paths, no nothing. I can just keep cantering for as long as I like, in any direction I want. It's like nothing on Earth can stop me...

I will definitely go to Russia. I am in love with Russia. It has a certain charm around it. It’s so secretive and mysterious and it just draws me in. I’ll probably get so drunk there, drinking the vodka and bread wine (I’ve drank a tiny bit of vodka before, I didn’t really like it so I’d like to try different ones). And did you know that Russian food/music/dance is pretty awesome too? See, Russia is so amazing…

Moving on to Europe.

I’ll go to Germany very briefly just to look around, maybe stroll around Berlin and see the 'environmentally friendly village' (It's a town that runs on solar power and doesn't harm the environment). I take my mom to Belgium for chocolate, Italy/Venice for sightseeing and food (namely desserts) and France for shopping. My mom is kind of addicted to Louis Vuitton and Prada sometimes. And I’ll take my dad to Italy to shop in Giorgio Armani. He loves the watches and glasses there. I’ll probably be next door in Armani Exchange. :P

And I really want to eat Italian food. Like spaghetti and lasagna…damn, I’m getting hungry. Must. Not. Think. Of. Gelato. Or. Cappuccinos.

French food is equally delicious. The escargots are supreme; you haven’t gone to France if you’ve never tasted it. The pastries there are ridiculously good as well. And I’ll make a quick stop at the Eiffel Tower again, visit the Louvre for a bit and return to the HUGE palace in France. I forget the name but I think Marie-Antoinette lived there? I fell in love with it the first time I went and I’m going back one day.

I NEED to pop into Switzerland. I’m totally in love with Swiss. The chocolate, the watches, the BEAUTFUL scenery of the Alps… EVERYTHING. I remember the first night I was in Swiss, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was looking at the mountains for over two hours on the balcony. I can never forget the time I was in Swiss, it was pure bliss. As you can see, I’m addicted to Swiss. I’d give anything to go back!

The food is average, though. I have to say…

I’ll go to Greece as well. Go to Athens to see the ruins of the temples. Okay, I know it doesn’t sound very interesting but Greece has these markets, which are really fascinating. I’ll drop into Rome as well. I’d visit the fountains, the piazzas, the museums… It’s so romantic there and mysterious. Actually, to me, Rome has a shadowed corner. Like something’s not right there in something so perfect. There's this sort of shady edge to it and I'd like to uncover the secrets.

And I HAVE TO GO TO ENGLAND. Cornwall for scenery, London for food, London Eye… And the Warner Bros. Harry Potter themed park. I’ll buy James Potter’s mahogany, dragon heartstring, 11 inches wand there. And the other HP merchandise like the Gryffindor/Slytherin scarves and I’ll drink butterbeer! (: I’m probably going to England this Christmas. I promised my parents that if I do get to go, I’m not going anywhere in the summer. It’s worth it!

I’d walk around Scotland and Wales to look around. The weather doesn’t seem that welcoming but it doesn’t matter. It looks nice around there.

Then I'll go to Kenya, have a night safari and help out UNICEF for the less fortunate people living there. I've always wanted to pass out food to the hungry or build a school with my own hands. I imagine the feeling will be...phenomenal. Or I could watch the teams of brave women detonating land mines somewhere in Africa (I forgot where...). <- I read a news report about them and they inspire me a lot. :')

I'll go to Egypt as well. I'd get lost in a pyramid, walk along the Nile River and take a look around Cairo. I've heard so much about Cairo and Egypt, it'd be nice to actually walk around and feel the atmosphere...

I might go to the Middle East some time but really, it doesn't seems to hold much wonders for me...
