Hi! (: Okay, so in English, we had to write an exaggeration poem. I did better than I thought on this one (17/20, if you’re curious) since I had no idea how to ‘exaggerate’. Oh, well. Here it is!
Ridiculously ruffled hair
With his arrogant nose in the air.
His hazel eyes with golden flecks
Are like pools of butterscotch.
His childish pranks are not hard to miss
With the teacher’s back turned around,
He quickly throws stink bombs to the ground,
A watching Prefect gives him a little hiss.
The putrid, stinging gases float up in the air,
Making everyone spin around and glare.
While the teacher furiously dishes out detentions,
The mischievous gleam in his eyes
And playful smirk is still there.
I think you know who this is for my Fanfiction readers! ;) It’s James Potter if you didn’t know. I really like James and Lily, I really do. I think because they’re so real to me. And maybe you’d say, “Well, duh! You bloody created them. You can make them be whoever you want.”
No- it’s more than that.
When I write about Lily or James, I sort of slip into another state of mind. Like I really become James or Lily. And I know exactly what they look like and how they will react. I know James is a bit arrogant and conceited at times but he is really a gentleman and a mad genius under all that bigheadedness. I know he likes Armani Exchange, he smells like Axe body cologne on a normal day but when he’s not wearing any cologne or he just came out of the shower, he smells woodsy and very…well, James-y. He has his own scent. When he’s sitting down, he likes to lean back and cross his arms. When he’s amused or confused, he arches one eyebrow.
Lily is a really sweet and kind girl, it’s just that she’s quite stubborn and a bit intense about things. She’s sensitive, maybe a bit naïve (Sirius agrees with me on this one) and she does have a rather loud temper. (You know, the more I think of it, I seem to see quite a lot of myself in Lily at times) She doesn’t really have a favorite fashion brand but I hope that she has a certain fondness for Armani Exchange. She doesn’t wear much makeup or perfumes and I like it that way, Lily’s already so beautiful inside and outside, there is really no point for her to make herself look/smell better although I do know that she smells faintly of lavender shampoo. So basically, she is a rather plain person and might be a bit boring when in ‘study-mode’ but don’t worry, there’s always James to lighten her up! :P
I actually went on Google to search on Armani Exchange, just to create James. All this makes him real to me. Like he’s not just someone I create in my mind and build on with paper and ink. Sometimes, when I’m writing, I half expect a tall, dark haired figure with glasses to come in my room any moment and go, “Hey! What’cha gonna write about me next? I knew you couldn’t resist my awesomely good looks.” And maybe a certain redhead is going to walk in behind James and nudge him playfully with her elbow, “My gosh, when can you be a bit more humble?” James would probably run his hand through his hair and laugh, “I am humble!” Then Lily would cut in, “Only when you choose to!”
So basically, James and Lily aren’t just figments of my imagination. They’re very, very real to me. And when I type them out, I don’t feel like I’m creating someone in my head but describing a very real person.
